How Credits Work
What a credit is, the difference between subscription and reload credits, in what order they are spent, and what happens when generation fails.
Updated on
A credit is the unit of use for AI tools. Each generation deducts a known amount before it runs — you never receive a bill at the end of the month.
Two types of credit
Your balance is the sum of two buckets, and they behave differently:
| Reload Credits | Subscription Credits | |
|---|---|---|
| Where they come from | One-time packages you buy | Monthly plan (or the 500 from free period) |
| Validity | 30 days from purchase | Renew each cycle |
| Accumulate? | They add together | No: renewal resets the month's balance |
In My Credits you see them separated — Subscription Credits and Reload Credits — and the date when the next reload batch expires.
What order they are spent in
Always reload first, and among them the batch that expires soonest. It's on purpose: that way the credit with a deadline comes out before it expires.
When generation fails
Credits are reserved the moment you click Abracadabra ✨ and only confirmed when content is delivered. If the AI fails, if time runs out, or if something breaks along the way, the reservation is reversed and the balance goes back — to the same bucket it came from. That's why the error message says "Your credits were not consumed."
There's only one honest exception: if, between the reservation and the reversal, the reload batch expires or the subscription cycle changes, that part has nowhere to go back to.
When your balance runs out
When you try to generate without balance, the Insufficient Credits window appears, showing your current balance, what you need, and how much is missing, with two options: Buy Credits Now or Upgrade Plan. Nothing is charged on that attempt.
Tip: tools that don't use AI (fill in the gap, matching halves, picture vocabulary match) cost the same as the others: 10 credits per generation. Set up the block carefully before generating.
Tip: editing a result by hand (Edit Result) never uses credits. Regenerate costs again.
