What is it for

You already use videos in class. The whole job is to watch again, take notes on what to ask, and type the questions. This tool listens to the media and writes the questions for you — based on what is actually spoken, not the title or description.

It accepts YouTube and Vimeo links, and also files uploaded from your computer.

How to use

  1. Add the tool to your exercise.
  2. Paste the link in the YouTube or Vimeo URL field, or use or upload a file to upload an .mp3, .wav, or .mp4 (up to 500 MB).
  3. In Select an extract, choose the piece you want. This is important: the cost is calculated by the duration of the extract, not the entire video.
  4. Choose the Type of questions:
    • Open questions — the student writes; you grade it.
    • ABCD questions — four options, auto-corrected.
    • True/False statements — fastest to answer, auto-corrected.
  5. Choose the Level (A1-A2, B1-B2, or C1-C2) and Language (Detect automatically, English, Portuguese, or Spanish).
  6. Choose the Number of Questions: 3, 5, 7, or 10.
  7. Click Abracadabra ✨.

When you use a link, the video player appears with the questions, already cut to the extract you chose.

Tips

Credits: the cost is per minute of media — 5 credits per minute of audio and 15 credits per minute of video, with a minimum of 1 minute. Trimming the extract is the most effective way to save.

Tip: two well-chosen minutes are worth more than ten full minutes — and cost one-fifth. Choose the excerpt where the information you want to test actually appears.

Tip: if audio is what matters (podcast, interview, music), upload the audio file instead of the video. It's three times cheaper per minute.

Tip: use Detect automatically only when the audio is one clear language. For video with strong accents or mixed languages, specify the language manually.

Note: duration is measured by the server from the media itself — you can't reduce the cost by editing the form. And video with poor auto-captions generates poor questions: listen to the excerpt first.

YouTube and Vimeo links count as video. Minutes are rounded up: a 2 min 10 s excerpt costs as 3 minutes.
