What is it for

A gap exercise is the most straightforward grammar task you can get: remove the word and see if the student knows which form fits. The difference here is that you decide what goes, not the AI. Paste the text you already use in your lesson and click the words you want to hide.

That's why it's great for specific points: only past tense verbs, only prepositions, only articles.

How to use

Add the tool and paste your text in the Text field.

The editor says: "Select any word to make it a gap". Click the words that should go away — they're marked. Click again to undo.

To practice articles, the Select Articles shortcut marks all of them at once. Clear Gaps unmarks everything.

Adjust the block's Maximum Points, if you want.

Click Abracadabra ✨.

The result has three parts: the text with numbered gaps, the shuffled word bank, and the answer key, which only you see.

Tips

Tip: 4 to 8 gaps is the sweet spot. Much more than that and the word bank becomes a word search and students guess by elimination, not knowledge.

Tip: hide words from the same grammatical family to keep the exercise focused. If you remove a verb, a noun, and a preposition, the student solves it by shape and you don't learn anything.

Tip: the correction ignores uppercase and lowercase, but expects the exact word. Avoid gaps in words that have an obvious synonym in context.

Note: this tool doesn't call the AI — it builds the exercise from your text. Still, the cost is the same as the others, because it's charged per block generation.
