Wall: Announcements, Files, and Individual Wall
How to post messages, videos, and files to the class, what students can post, and how to send a message to just one student.
Updated on
The wall is the class timeline. It's where you announce that class has moved to a different time, share the recording link, upload the dictation audio, and answer questions.
Post to the class
- Open the class. The field at the top says "Share something with the class…".
- Choose the tab: Announcement, YouTube, Link, or Activity.
- Write the text (up to 2,000 characters) and, if you want, attach a File — image, audio, video, or PDF.
- Use Pin if the message needs to stay always visible.
- Click Post.
Pinned posts appear first; the rest come from newest to oldest. If you try to post without text and without an attachment, Nivo asks: "Add a message or at least one attachment to post."
Students also post
The wall is two-way: enrolled students can post. Their posts carry the Teacher badge, so the class can tell what is official guidance.
If that doesn't work for your class, agree on the rule in the first lesson — Nivo doesn't have, for now, a "read-only" mode for students.
Individual wall
Each student has an exclusive wall that only you and they can see. It's for individual feedback, arranging make-up work, or sending extra material without exposing anyone.
Open the student in the Students tab and use the "Write a private message…" field. The student sees an unread notification until they open it.
Note: the wall does not send email or push notifications. The student only sees the message when they open Nivo. For something urgent, use the channel your class already uses daily.
Tip: a pinned post with the course curriculum and virtual classroom link solves half the semester's repeated questions.
